Gun Control

Gun Control is a big issue on the minds of some Americans now. What are we as a Nation to do to try and safeguard our children. One camp wants to ban Assault Weapons and Large capacity ammo clips. Another camp might consider background checks at Gun Shows. Another camp would ban all guns. I think the Buzz Word of Assault Weapon is incorrect. An Assault Weapon is a Fully Automatic Weapon used by the Government and the Military. The general public are not allowed to purchase or posses an Automatic Weapon unless they have a Class-1 FFL License. This is not an easy license to get today and that is in my opinion a good thing. If you manage to pass all the background checks , the local Police Chief still has the authority to stop you from getting it. I don't think anyone wants criminals/mental cases getting these license just because they haven't gotten caught in court or the Dr. Office yet. There should be an appeal process to this so as to check any vendettas by Officials. So to be sure they are wanting to Ban Semi-Automatic Weapons which are most of what is being bought today. So how many times do you need to shoot the Burglar/Rapist/Robber/Murder? Until he stops being a threat or you need to reload to continue shooting him. Your choice.Not his. Look at the City's with the toughest gun laws. Chicago and New York. Do you think those people are save? I know it is hard for them to legally purchase a gun for protection, but easy for the criminals to steal one. When seconds count. The Police are only minutes away. Back Ground Checks at the Gun Shows. This should be mandatory. The Organization putting on the Gun Show should be required to provide the necessary equipment and connections so that any gun buyer at the show passes the same Background Check as they would have to pass if they bought the gun at a Gun Shop before they can purchase a gun at the Gun Show. The cost would be included in the space rent fees that each dealer/seller purchases. The Government should be required to link the Mental Health Records across the Nation to these data bases. The result of the Background Check should be a Pass/ Fail only. No personal information would given out as a result of the Background Check. Without the Background Check loop hole being closed at the Gun Shows I agree with the sides that want to close the Gun Shows down. The Law. We have plenty of Gun Laws on the books that are not being enforced, let's enforce them. But let's remember this one point. No matter what Gun Control Law that we pass it will Not be followed by a Criminal(that's why they are Criminals) it is just going to restrict the honest citizen from pursuing a Constitutional Right. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with Hunting or Collecting Guns. It gives us the Right to defend our self's from attack from anyone including our own Government. Laws are not going to stop a madman or a criminal. Another armed person might. Protecting our Children: Armed Guards in the Schools whether it be uniformed Police Officers or Plain Clothed Guards or Armed and properly trained School officials. Any of these work for me. Just as long it is known that there are Armed Personnel in the School. For the ones that are shocked at the idea of armed personnel in the schools, this has been being done for years already and yes there have been incidents in these schools also. But I don't recall a massacre in one of them. Collages excluded because they are to expansive to do anything but react to an incident after it has already happened. Schools, at least in Texas , have the right to have their own Police Dept. Most if not all use the Local Police Departments Officers as a money saving option. They could just as easily start their own. They have ability to pay for this with School Taxes. The schools would be much better off getting the Feds out of our schools in the long run. We allow 1.3 Million Babies to be Aborted/Killed/Murdered each year. I hear no out cry for them. 3,322 abortions per day with Roe v Wade 1973. Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, there have been approximately 50 million abortions performed in the United States. We are a Violent Society now. Parents need to Raise Their Children and stop leaving it up to the Street and TV. Children are being educated that they are not at fault when they do something wrong, it is someone else fault. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions anymore.
